BEDS

The question is often asked..."What do you need most at the babycloset?"
The answer is sometimes different..depending on the needs at the moment, sometimes its diapers, sometimes its high chairs, sometimes its new underwear and socks. BUT what is always needed no matter the day is always BEDS. For someone with a baby/toddler it is one of the most important things to have! To help ensure a good night's sleep a BED is needed.
All kinds of BEDS..bassinets, pack n plays, cribs, toddler beds..these are all so helpful! So if you have a friend, neighbor, niece, nephew, co-worker that has a child that has outgrown their bed and is looking for a good home we are always accepting BEDS.
Families are so beyond blessed to receive beds (in good condition that is).
We have heard of babies/toddlers sleeping on floors, in their parents' bed, with their siblings, in their carseats....so when they receive a BED it changes so much.
Thanks for all your wonderful donations that go to support families with young children, YOU are sowing a good seed into a family.

Books..Books...Books...

We are now accepting children's books for the babycloset! We are taking board books, and story books suitable for children up to age 4. Books in good condition. No chapter books. Hope you can find some good ones at garage sales or on your bookshelf that are no longer age appropriate for your house :) Books are such treasures to pass along. What a fun way to encourage reading at a young age!

Fundraising....Garage Sale

So the babycloset decided to have a garage sale to raise some funds....We were hoping for $100-200. However, our little sale raised $555!!!! How exciting! Thanks to everyone that sorted clothes, made signs, worked the sale, and made the 4 day sale even possible! Thanks for all your endless work Keri Harrison. And thanks to Fenton Right to Life for their generous donation. Amazing what happens when we all work together and what God can do...over and above what we could even imagine.

babycloset sends dresses to Haiti

So...we heard there was a need for little girls dresses and skirts in an orphanage in Haiti. So...we went through all our bins of girls clothes and send all that we had! After the quake, one of our lovely volunteers was trying to think of a way that we could help. We weren't sure at the time what exactly we could do..but an opportunity came! So.....thanks a million to everyone that has bought little baby girl and toddler dresses and donated them to the babycloset....some of them ended up in Haiti! I continue to be amazed at how God takes what we give and does such beautiful amazing things.

Wii Bowling Tournament

The church is having a fundraiser for the babycloset. Yay!

It will be a Wii bowling tournament that will take place on April 16th. The cost is $10 per couple. A couple is not just a married couple, it is a couple of girls, a couple of guys, and couple of friends, really just two people on the same team. So if you are interested and would like more details sign up in the connect center or call the church office. Hope you can join us!

We did it!

"We did it, we did it, we did it, hooray!" (in the words of Dora)
What a humongous job of switching over from fall/winter clothing to spring/summer! But we did it! Thanks so much to all of you amazing volunteers that worked late nights helping us make the "big switch." Your efforts were so helpful and totally worth it! Now, we won't have to do that again until August. So grateful for all of you. Looking forward to all the exciting changes in the coming months, even the bundling of the onesies, as I have probably already told many of you (too many times).

You are a great team and I love serving with all of you!

Another testimonial

The Baby Closet has been such a help and blessing to us! We (my
husband, me and our 4 children) are missionaries in Tanzania, East
Africa. We returned to the U.S. for our furlough this past June and
were very surprised shortly after arriving home to find out that I am
expecting our 5th child. Of course, a month before we returned to the
States, I sold most of my baby things to a fellow missionary in
Tanzania who was expecting. She was overjoyed to be able to get baby
things that we either cannot find or afford over there. Since our
youngest child is now 4, and I had surgery a few years ago, we thought
it was safe to move our things on to another family who could use
them. Boy, were we wrong! The Lord had another baby for us and we were
not sure how we would replace all the things we had just sold. We
would just have to rely on the Lord to supply our needs--and He
did--through the Baby Closet! I got some much needed things, and even
some that were just wants. One of those things was a nice set of
cloth diapers that will really come in handy in Tanzania! That was one
thing for which I had specifically prayed! Your labor of love will
reach all the way to the continent of Africa. Words can't express my
gratitude--but thank you all so much!
Love in Christ,
BJ & Cathy Schultz

Maternity Clothes (we do now take!)

If you are interested in donating any maternity clothes in good condition, we are happy to accept those at the babycloset and give them to two pregnancy centers in Flint. The babycloset does not give away maternity clothes, but we understand that often when you are done with your baby items you are also done with your maternity clothes at the same time, so we are happy to help other moms in need by partnering with the other centers.

Testimonal

My experience with the baby closet has been wonderful! The volunteers there are friendly and do what they can to help someone who truly is in need. Its such a blessing to have this going for moms or dads that need an extra helping hand sometimes. I receive clothes to help with my children and in return when they are growing out of them,I give them to the baby closet to go to another mother in need. When I come across a friend in need i inform them of the baby closet because its by far the greatest help another place would give. Thank you volunteers and donors for making it a bit easier for everyone!
By Rachael, mom of 4 kids under 4.

What is the babycloset?

The babycloset is a place at the Freedom Center that is filled with baby items to give to families in need. From bottles, to clothes, to cribs...everything that we have comes from donations of generous people. Children are a gift from God, so understanding that, we want to encourage and help moms (and dads) with the many needs of a new baby. We want families to feel loved and we want to take an active interest in their lives.
So, if you know someone that is in need and has a baby or a toddler, please have them call the church office to schedule an appointment.
Or, if you have baby items you would like to donate that are clean and gently used, please drop them off at the Freedom Center during office hours.
